Welcome to the Vampire Diaries wiki, a source of information about L.J. Smith's series of books and the CW TV series based on them.
This wiki is split into two sections; one dedicated to the books, and another dedicated to the TV series. You can choose which section to visit by clicking on the image links below. Be warned: there will be detailed spoilers for the series in the articles, though we try to keep any major spoilers for the books out of the TV series section and vice versa.

A few things to be aware of:
- If we seem picky, please don't take it personally. This wiki is also part of the Vampire-Diaries.net main site, with articles for episodes and characters being linked directly from there, so we want to make sure that it integrates as well as possible.
- Because there are differences between Nightfall and the original series, information from the new trilogy should not be mixed in with the main article, but placed under its own heading at the bottom of the article. The exceptions to this are obviously new characters from Nightfall, and names (for example, Mrs. Flowers' first name is revealed in Nightfall).
- This is a group effort, so don't be surprised if you find information you have added has been changed by someone else. If you find you have a genuine problem with someone who is wrongly editing articles, please contact us.
- Please do not change or edit images without asking Red or Vee first. The current images are in place to a specified size for layout purposes. If you think you have a better picture to use, then please contact us. We're happy to consider changing images, but we want to be sure that they're a) appropriate changes, and b) quality images.
You do not need to know how to edit a wiki to be able to edit this one. The wiki has been set up now in such a way that all articles have the necessary sections in them. All you need to do is click on the 'edit' button on the section you want to add information to, type it in, and then hit the save button. You're welcome to add any necessary links yourself, but if you're unsure about that, leave a URL and an admin or more experienced user will come and edit that for you.
